Hello everyone!
My name is Teresa and I have been here at AR for almost five months. I have enjoyed my time her immensely and have enjoyed reading all the posts from former Rubies girls. It's so funny how similar your experiences have been to mine. I laughed as I was reading some of them, because they were so familiar to me.
I came here on the 14th of Jan. and am leaving on the 10th of June. during that time I've seen four other girls either come or leave. Dana was here first and is from NY, as am I. Then after me came August who is also from NY! Can you imagine- three of us here at once- all from NY? Eden, from California, recently left, so the only girl here with me right now is Anita, from Australia. We love to pick on each other over the different ways we say things and different words we use.
We've had some fun and not so fun experiences here at AR, but I am so blessed to be here and have grown so much in my walk with the Lord. I love Mr. and Mrs. C- they've become like grandparents to me. And Mercy's great too- she always makes everybody laugh. It's fun to dance with John's rap too! Oh and Vang! She brings with her such a spirit of liveliness to the environment and we've shared so many interests. As I'm from a farm in upstate NY and used to that lifestyle, I'm not too fond of office work and love to get outside, but desire to serve Above Rubies the best I can and reach families with God's truth. I will miss everybody so much when I go.
I don't have much free time, but when I do, I like to read, talk to and email my family, watch BBCs with Mercy, take photos, go visit the daughters and grandchildren, go swimming in the creek, or go shopping. I have a cut flower garden business at home, so have been helping Rashida get a flower garden planted to sell flowers at the markets. Among my experiences here have been: My first New's Boys concert at the winter jam in Nashville, Smoochy McTwain's show( I love bluegrass and am trying to teach Monique how to play the mandolin), first experiences of both Shabbat and Passover, hiding in the tornado shelter from tornadoes, and trying to stay away from ticks and chiggers- none of which are this bountiful in NY.
A few weeks ago, Eden and I caught up in the office, so Mrs. Campbell had us make aprons. That was fun- We made about 8 or 9 of them.
I had to help Mercy clean the laundry and her room the other day- wow! what a job!
So yeah, its been different, but exciting- never a dull moment around here! I can't wait to go home and show my family all the pictures I took!
Anyway, I have to go. I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to update this blog- I've been wanting to for so long- since I got here. And boy! does time fly. I've been so busy!
